We are gearing up for the 2008 Bethel Boosters annual car show held in nearby Eugene, Oregon.
This will be year number 5 of attending. Always fun and plenty to see and do. Probably 200 or so cars, a rapoff contest and good eats. We always take a monster amount of pics so stay tuned for a new album!

So today I was shuffling cars around the shop and the old hay barn where I keep 4 vehicles. In the shop was the 71 drag Camaro that I wanted to move out to the shed so I could start and tune it with totally gassing myself out of the shop. Have a respirator is an understatement. I hook up the battery, move the racing seat and so forth. I then start the car up and it seemed to be it’s normal coldblooded Chevy self. It starts and runs for a bit then I happen to look at the scoop coming through the hood and see a 2 foot stream of gas puking out the hole in the hood.

As quickly as I can I turn off the motor, get out of the car and pop the hood. The gas line was spewing right at the carb. I look under the car. There is a 2 foot diameter puddle of gas. The headers are 6 inches away.

I managed to get the gas cleaned up and will replace the hose tomorrow.

I guess even the toughest of lines wear after 4 or 5 years. This was a rush people. I will tell you I will mount another extinguisher in the engine compartment soon.
